lyrics

OUR CITY

Bernstein • Moore

now I don't recognize much of my home its been re-gentrified to push out the poor and all the friends I know are fighting for air while the folks with the dough still try to take what is not theirs

now I don’t know who you are but I’ve got no other place to go now I want to know

what have you done to my city what have they done to this town what have you done to my city there's no use in staying now

I served eight years in all revolved through the backdoor of a never ending war and that’s eight years and no change in pay while my wife and kids struggled just to eat twice a day and on the afternoon that I got home the banker showed up with an eviction note and my kids school just closed down while the condo’s grow higher in the sky downtown

now I don’t know what’s gone wrong this isn’t the life that I served eight years, (standing with pride, watching my friends die just to get home alive in time to get in line) fighting for

what have you done to my city what have they done to this town what have you done to my city there's no use in staying now

I feel the growing pains here in the streets met soldiers in bread lines still wearing fatigues while the white collared hipsters live beyond their means more moving parts to feed the machine held signs on the corner begging others for change when all that was offered were the broken remains of solutions to problems that nobody raised they’re keeping it weird but in all the wrongs ways

this cities been built on the old scattered bones of lost lonely punks with no other place to call home just kicked down the road fighting and screaming

what have we done to our city what have we done to this town what have we done to our city there's no use in staying now
